Hi! Welcome to my website and thanks for stopping by. I’m glad to finally display my landscapes. I hope you enjoy what you see. I’m not sure exactly how I would label my work…maybe abstract landscapes…maybe impressionistic landscapes…maybe decorative or spiritual landscapes. No matter what the label, enjoy, and please contact me with any questions or comments you might have.
ABOUT ME
I was born and
raised in Connecticut, and am currently living in New Haven.
Art has always
been my biggest talent, even if I didn’t want it to be. As I look back I
can now see that for years I've drifted to avoid my talents for reasons that I
still can’t articulate. Who knows?
I do know that
it wasn’t until I finally put aside my learned academic, artistic constraints
and allowed myself to create art solely for myself, that I ultimately found
joy, pride, and true inspiration along with the want to create more and more.
My earlier
education was spent studying graphic design at The Art Institute of Atlanta and then interior design at the Savannah College of Art and Design. It wasn’t until more recently that I was trained in oils at Southern Connecticut State University,
while getting my teaching degree. Afterward, through a lot of
unsupervised experimentation, I came to love the thick, impasto textures that
oils can construct, but I found their drying time to be way too
confining. I consequently taught myself in acrylics, reluctantly at
first, but came to find their properties and workability to be more immediately
gratifying.
