The Range paintings are somewhat the beginning of my Landscape series. The original pieces were the stepping stones that led me to the landscapes in my other gallery. Although they are similar in subject, the landscapes in my other series are more impressionistic of wooded areas and fields, while these compositions are more in line with the dryer, arid climates of the deserts. There is a different painting technique as well in which I use more opaque color and less transparent glazing.
I've recently decided to continue on with these images and create a series due to the continued inspiration I get from them and the personal desire to explore their further possibilities. I plan on having a minimum of 3 new Range paintings completed in time to be displayed by the end of this summer (2008).
