ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

I am honored and excited to be the first artist chosen for the Artist in Residence program at Claire's Corner Copia.  I was told that they received a lot of positive feedback about my artwork in November...so they invited me back.  My work will be up from June 2008 through December 2008.  There will be many new landscapes that I've been working on as well as a few abstracts that I've been trying to finish.  Work will  be rotated periodically as I continue to create more, and I will have more information as this gets closer.  I am greatly thankful to Claire and Erin for giving me his opportunity!

The photo to my right is a quick snapshot of my studio and some stuff I'm working on.

RECEPTION - 11 ADDITIONS

I would like to invite everyone to my opening reception at Claire's this coming Tuesday night, June 10th from 7-8:30pm.  There will be coffee, cakes and 11 new works finished just in time for the show.  Once again, a very big thanks to Claire for this great opportunity.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Well, I feel pretty good with my accomplishments this year; I put this website together, completed about 10 paintings and started a handful of others, showed my work in public for the first time, and sold 4 of my works...all in the first year of giving the possibility of my art a chance.  I also met some pretty nice people along the way.  I'm hoping that in the spring I will have some more work to offer and show.  I thank everyone for their continued support and enthusiasm, and I wish everyone a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year.

IT'S ABOUT TIME...

IT'S ABOUT TIME...

Well, well, well...I've just finished 3 paintings that have been hanging around here for quite a while, but I still have one more that just doesn't want to be done.  I've quickly documented them so I could add them to the sight but I'll have to re-photograph them in better light someday when I'm home during daylight.  My LUMIX 10mp camera does not live up to the reviews; the picture quality is horrible.  I'm consistently not happy with the results of photographing my work with this camera.  Anyway, the newest ones are ANY WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY CROWN, and INFINITE SUNDAY.  They are now hanging, along with all the others, at Claire's Corner Copia in downtown New Haven.  Stop in if you're in the area and tell me what you think...and grab something to eat too; their food's the best!

IN MOTION...

IN MOTION...

Although my work wasn’t accepted into the 3rd juried show that I had submitted to, I still got some pretty cool news of late.  I recently found out that I will be showing my work at one of my most favorite restaurants - Claire’s Corner Copia in downtown New Haven, CT.  It will be on exhibit there from November 1 to November 30, 2007.  I’ve also started a now job, which I’m grateful for…but it doesn’t allow as much time for my art.  So for now, things are still in motion; they’re just moving a little slower than I’d like.

The photo to the left is an early morning April snapshot of the field next to my house.  If you can look past the trees in the foreground, you'll see it's that background horizon that really inspires me.

SO FAR...

SO FAR...

It looks like the reworking has paid off (at least for one picture).  So far, PALE GREEN DAWN has been accepted into the “New Haven Paint and Clay Club” Annual Juried Art Exhibition at the John Slade Ely House in New Haven from March 18th – April 8th.  I will also have OPENING LIGHT on display in the “Show for a Show” at Artwell Gallery in Torrington from March 31st – April 29th.  There's still another entry I’m waiting to hear back from and will post more when some good news hopefully comes in.

To the left is a snapshot of my back yard during our last snow day, it's a good visual of where I get some inspiration from.  I guess you can say that I get a lot of my visual cues from my immediate surroundings...

REWORKED

REWORKED

Well, I know some don’t’ think it’s a good idea but I reworked a few old paintings.  I’m glad I did though; I’m entering them in a few juried shows and the little things that continued to bother me about them are gone now…so there!  The only down side is that they didn’t photograph as nicely as the first time around.  I’ve uploaded the updated photos and also 2 more paintings that I’ve completed in time for one the shows: OCTOBER WALK, and JANUARY CLEARING.  Lastly, the painting to the right is a sneak peak of something else nearing completion; hopefully it will be done for a different show with a deadline in mid-March (It's becoming one of my favorites).

Thanks for everyones continued support…

THANKS...

Thanks to everyone for all the awesome comments and emails.  It’s great to feel so much support!  I’ve updated the site with everyone’s suggestions and completed the rest of the content that I was working on.  The only thing left to do is my artist resume, which is something that I’ll be actively building this spring as I plan to begin submitting to shows and exhibiting.  So once I get a few things under my belt – I’ll print it up.  I currently have 5 works in progress (7 panels total) and am quite pleased with their progress.  Hopefully we’ll get a few snow-days this year so I can get a little more time to work on them  : )

UP AND RUNNING

Hey there!  Well I’m finally up and running…putting myself out there for all the world to see (or at least who ever wanders by).  How exciting and humbling.  The site is still under construction as I still have a few odds and ends to finish up, but my impatience made me publish it before it was ready.  I also have more work to document and re-photograph, plus I continually have work in progress, so I will be adding them as they are complete. Any suggestions, comments, or questions, please feel free to contact me by email or comment on this log. TTFN  : )
